IMBA Opens Trail Accelerator Grants
The International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) has officially opened its application window for the 2027 Trail Accelerator Grants. Running from November 1 through December 31, 2026, the grant cycle aims to help communities jump-start local trail development by providing expert resources. Selected projects and organizations will be officially announced during the second quarter of 2027.
The program offers two main avenues of support: professional planning and design services, and targeted organizational education. Planning and design grants typically range from $10,000 to $30,000, helping local entities map out sustainable, high-quality mountain bike and outdoor recreation facilities. Meanwhile, education grants range from $3,000 to $10,800, providing vital training such as Trail Care Workshops, capital campaign strategy, and grassroots strategic planning.
Eligible applicants include local, state, and federal government agencies, 501(c)(3) nonprofits, chambers of commerce, land trusts, and local mountain bike advocacy chapters. IMBA emphasizes that having a professional blueprint is essential not just for physical construction, but for securing political backing and unlocking additional financial grants from larger funding bodies.
Communities looking to expand their local recreation economies and improve access to the outdoors can find complete guidelines, eligibility details, and the required applicant toolkit directly on IMBA's website.
